NEDAC – Rural Voice Award for Excellence, presented to BAAC, Thailand


NEDAC-Rural Voice Award for Excellence was handed over to the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Thailand for their exemplary work in the field of agriculture and rural credit.

Bangkok – The NEDAC-Rural Voice Awards were instituted to honor the pioneering services of agricultural cooperative leaders internationally. The Award was presented by Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare in the inaugural NEDAC Rural Voice Awards 2021 at the Rural Voice Agriculture Conclave jointly organized by NEDAC and Rural Voice in New Delhi, India on December 23, 2021. The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Thailand was one of the four awardees in recognition of their exemplary contributions in the field of agriculture, rural affairs and cooperatives.

Since BAAC representatives could not travel to India to receive the Award because of the pandemic related travel restrictions, Dr. K.R. Salin, Honorary Director of NEDAC presented the NEDAC – Rural Voice Award for Excellence to Mr. Chab Kongmon, Executive Vice President of Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) at its headquarter in Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Prasun Kumar Das, Secretary General of the Asia – Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA) also witnessed the meeting.

BAAC was established in 1966 with the objectives to provide financial assistance to farmers, farmer associations and agricultural cooperatives which conduct agriculture and other related-agriculture business. BAAC mandate is to be a secure rural development bank with modern management providing integrated financial service to sustainably enhance the quality of life of farmers.
