International Capacity Development Program on Cyber Risks and Mitigation Strategies: Lessons from Asia for Kenyan Cooperatives

Cybersecurity need to be applied to eliminate cyber risks and attacks.

The webinar was organized by NEDAC, Bangkok in partnership with KUSCCO Ltd., Kenya. Cyber security involving protection of systems, networks and data in cyberspace has become a critical concern for all businesses. Therefore, the technical webinar was organized to transfer effective cyber security measures to ensure safety and reliability of the organizations and customers of our members.

The webinar was organized to specially assist cooperatives in Kenya, therefore, it was mostly attended by participants from the cooperative institutions in Kenya, some from India. Dr. Gulshan Rai, Senior Advisor of National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), India was the keynote speaker. He presented the Emerging technologies scenario and Digital transformation, Digital disruption, Driven innovations and Virtualization, Cyber-attacks such as spamming, phishing, and cyber snakes, Cyber security and implementations. Cyber security Enabler Matrix was also demonstrated during his presentation. The solutions to mitigate the cyber risks were presented such as skills development initiatives, appreciating the impact of technology, social and consumer trends, considering collective industry vision, and investing in the new capabilities future vision of manpower. The agricultural cooperatives and its allied sectors need to develop those to meet their organization’s objectives to reduce the impacts from the cyber risks and attacks. NEDAC member countries will need to work together for technology absorption and adoption.
